Left ventricle restoration in end stage ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy
نویسنده
چکیده
Background Patients with end stage dilated cardiomyopathy exhibit extensive remodeling of the left ventricle, annular dilation, and significant mitral and tricuspid regurgitation. These changes increase perioperative morbidity and mortality, and emphasize patient candidacy for heart transplantation. We previously published that Reductive Annuloplasty of Double (mitral and tricuspid) Orifices could be successfully applied in selective patients. However, it was unclear if implantation of the artificial mitral valve with preservation of native mitral valve could be used as a method in such cases.

The value of myocardial perfusion imaging in differentiating between idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy from the ischemic form [Persian]
Introduction: Differentiating between ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) and idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM) is important as coronary revascularization can improve prognosis in the ischemic subgroup. Due to inherent problems of coronary angiography in patients with depressed ejection fraction (EF) introducing a noninvasive tool to diagnose those who will benefit from angiography seems...
متن کاملSurgical ventricular restoration: left ventricular shape influence on cardiac function, clinical status, and survival.
BACKGROUND Myocardial infarction can result in a spectrum of left ventricular (LV) shape abnormalities. Surgical ventricular restoration (SVR) can be applied to any, but there are no data that relate its effectiveness to LV shape. Moreover, there is no consensus on the benefit of SVR in patients with a markedly dilated ventricle, without clear demarcation between scarred and normal tissue. This...

OBJECTIVE Restoration of left ventricle size and shape is an effective surgical procedure in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. This report defines early and intermediate results following the reshaping of the left ventricle from spherical to ellipsoid configuration in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy, employing a technique for LV restoration (LVR) that uses form rather than disease as ...
متن کاملPartial left ventriculectomy for end-stage cardiomyopathy: report of a case.
Cardiac transplantation is an established treatment for end-stage heart failure, but its use is very limited. Partial left ventriculectomy has been reported as an alternative treatment for end-stage dilated cardiomyopathy. However, it has been well recognized that emergency partial left ventriculectomy for intractable decompensation is associated with poor survival. We report a case of a 68-yea...
متن کاملVentricular Approach for Functional Mitral Regurgitation in Cardiomyopathy
Background: The key mechanism of functional mitral regurgitation (FMR) in cardiomyopathy is leaflet tethering caused by displacement of the papillary muscles (PM) due to left ventricular dilatation. The attendant remodeling process is characterized by intraventricular widening between both PM. Recently, surgical ventricular restoration (SVR) has been proposed as a technique to reduce leaflet te...
